Experience

As a lawyer I started off in the Competition & Regulatory team. During that time, I advised cosmetics companies on selective distribution contracts, for instance. I also delved into energy regulations for energy and grid companies. 

When I switched to the litigation department I focused on commercial and corporate disputes. My commercial litigation experience means I have extensive knowledge of Dutch contract law. I dealt with a great variety of commercial contracts varying from supply contracts to distribution and agency agreements. My corporate litigation cases concerned disputes related to SPAs, joint venture agreements and directors’ liability claims.

Being a litigator has allowed me to develop a broad set of skills. These include drafting and interpreting contracts, assessing legal positions and determining strategies. In addition, I frequently needed to familiarise myself with other legal areas (e.g. privacy law, employment law) as well as foreign laws (e.g. English law,  German law) and liaise with other / foreign counsel. These skills proved very useful during my first assignment as an interim legal counsel at Unilever.
